Queens Baton comes to Appin

A recent visit to Glasgow (2.5 hours away from The Pierhouse) showed that the city is well and truly ready for the start of the XX Commonwealth Games on 23 July. Meanwhile the Queen's Baton Relay continues on its journey - passing through Appin on Sunday 13 July.

We're very excited that the Queen's Baton is entering Argyll & Bute here at Appin on Sunday 13 July. It's an early start for the baton bearers (7.13am) as they carry the baton along the cycle track (near the recently refurbished Jubilee Bridge which received Legacy 2014 funding) in to the Strath of Appin primary school before finishing the Appin stretch at the Community Car Park.

Come and be part of the XX Commonwealth Games and cheer on the local baton bearers - the relay celebration includes breakfast, piping and highland dancing and a come and try shinty session.  Best wishes from everyone at The Pierhouse to the four Appin baton bearers - Jacqueline, Amanda, Karen and Linda!
