Pierhouse People: our Housekeeping team

Keeping the hotel spick and span - meet Barbara Jane and her team of Housekeepers.

Essential to the smooth running of the hotel, The Pierhouse’s Housekeeping team work away behind the scenes preparing guest bedrooms, keeping public spaces spick and span as well as working in our onsite laundry. Guests may not always meet Barbara Jane and her team, but you can be sure that guest comfort is top priority for our housekeepers.

Head Housekeeper: Barbara Jane

Barbara Jane is our Head Housekeeper and has been part of the housekeeping team for a number of years. Nothing is too much trouble and she is very happy to talk to guests about any requests they might have during their stay. Barbara Jane is local to Port Appin with a background in textile design. Her attention to detail in the beautiful products she makes for the local craft shop translates to the care and professionalism that she takes in preparing our rooms for our guests.

We’re very lucky to have a fantastic housekeeping team made up of local people – many working alongside other members of their family. It’s very much a family affair at The Pierhouse!  Rosalie lives locally in Appin and has known Caroline & Norma in our office for many years – the three of them went to school together! Lesley lives on Lismore and pops over on the ferry to come to work - what a picturesque commute that is! Aimee Leigh lives locally and helps at the hotel while she finishes her teacher training.

The team wouldn’t be complete without mentioning a few folks who weren’t around on the day the photo was taken. There’s Donna, our former Head Housekeeper, who has returned to the fold and is a big support to Barbara Jane; Amy, Donna’s daughter, a recent school leaver at the start of her working life and, of course, there’s Irene – Restaurant & Bar Manager Lorraine’s mum - who has been with us for a long, long time.
