We were delighted to support local community group - Appin Skiff - as they celebrated the landmark stage in the construction of Appin's first coastal rowing skiff - the turning of the hull.
The recent summer solstice event saw the completed skiff hull being carried out of Port Appin's boathouse where the skiff is being built and brought a few metres along the road to the hotel.
The assembled group toasted the skiff as it was turned over for the first time - giving Appin Skiff volunteers the chance to chat through the next stages in the skiff build - painting it and fitting out the interior.
It was lovely to see the 22ft wooden skiff in all its glory and to welcome the group and their friends to the hotel. It also gave us the perfect opportunity to serve up a summery glass of Pimms along with some canapes which Head Chef Sergejs hand delivered ....we think he just wanted a wee peak at the skiff. Maybe we should put together a rowing crew from the hotel!
Best wishes to Appin Skiff with the next stage to complete their boat build ......we look forward to welcoming them back soon and seeing the skiff crews out rowing on the water.
