The nights may be drawing in, but that’s all the more reason to enjoy a relaxing and cosy stay here at The Pierhouse. With the lounge fire crackling away, and the snug to enjoy a book or a game, we’ve got plenty of options for you to relax this winter. You can warm up with a hot drink or dram on the terrace whilst keeping an eye on our stunning scenery and simply watch life go by with the comings and goings on the pier. Of course, there are plenty of things to keep you occupied during your stay, should you wish to step out of the comfort of the hotel.
Right behind us is a lovely looped walk with stunning views over to Lismore and Mull and plenty of benches for a pit stop as well as a big cave to explore. Clach Thoull is an easy-going, circular coastal route that takes you back to the Pierhouse passing the local shop and craft shop on the way back.
Speaking of the craft shop, The Lighthouse as it’s known, has a wealth of treasures from local artists and you’ll find a good few of their items in the Pierhouse too. It was recognised as one of The Herald’s 15 best independent craft shops for thoughtful gifts and you can see why as soon as you enter. You can also sit outside with Archie and Sharon with a coffee and they’ll happily tell you about their crafts and artists.
As you gaze out from our terrace or dining room, you’ll notice the island of Lismore. The ferry to get there leaves regularly from the pier and takes a few minutes to transport you to another world. You can have adventures in a Landrover, buy succulent cakes and bakes from a telephone box, learn all about their history in the heritage centre, hire bikes, visit castles and the café, find something special in the wee shop that serves the island and lots more. Our staff are more than happy to advise you on things to do here but do also look at the Isle of Lismore website for more inspiration.
