For 2017 Proprietor Nick will once again be taking to his cycle to raise money, this year for research into Alzheimer's. Very sadly Nick’s mother is suffering from this dreadful disease so it's a cause very close to home.
On Sunday 24th September Nick successfully completed the 2017 Oban Sportive, cycling 86 miles around Argyll to raise as much money as possible. If you would like to sponsor him please visit his Just Giving page here.
The Pierhouse has a natural affiliation with the sea both geographically and through our local maritime community in Port Appin and on the Island of Lismore. This, together with our close ties with the yachting fraternity who visit us in considerable numbers every year, generates a very strong maritime association. The Pierhouse is proud to have been a supporter of the wonderful voluntary service of the members of the R.N.L.I. for many years past and will continue to be so for many more into the future.
Help for Heroes
For the last four years or so, Proprietor Nick has taken part took in the Mull CycloSportive on the Isle of Mull in support of a charity close to his heart - Help for Heroes - and RNLI. The event is 87 gruelling miles on a bicycle in support of these really worthy causes. If you would like to, you can sponsor Nick via his Just Giving page. Every pound makes a difference: thank you.
We are pleased to support Alzheimer Scotland - the leading dementia organisation in Scotland. The organisation campaigns for the rights of people with dementia and their families and provides an extensive range of innovative and personalised support services. To assist Alzheimer Scotland's fundraising, The Pierhouse donated a 2 night stay at the hotel for an auction at Alzheimer Scotland's charity ball in Aberdeen.
Bill McLaren Foundation
The Pierhouse is very pleased to support the Bill McLaren Foundation. The charity, set up in the name of 'the voice of rugby' aims to continue to develop and promote the game of rugby union and its values. Funds raised help to encourage and support youngsters to develop life skills and values through grassroots sports.
We recently donated a prize for a stay/meal at The Pierhouse in a silent auction at the Foundation's Long Lunch event held in Edinburgh.
