Red Deer Stalking Calendar

Red Stag Stalking   1 July - 20 October 2008

Red Hind Stalking   1 November - 15 February 2008

"Red Deer Stalking - the Ultimate Physical Challenge and a Real Privilege"

We are a favourite destination for country sports enthusiasts, specialising in Red Stag and Hind stalking, which we offer in the magnificent beauty and tranquillity of a small number of stunning private highland estates.  Red deer stalking is offered this season at the stunning Kingairloch Highland Estate and Glensanda Estate - two privately owned estates of approximately 28,000 acres.   Red Deer Stalking is a critical part of estate management and responsible conservation, aiming to preserve the wild red deer, to preserve and improve the natural habitat and to promote a healthier wild deer population for future generations.

The cull of stags and hinds is selective and is determined by the estate stalkers, the annual spring count and the annual habitat assessments.  All guests need to come fully equipped for the activity and will be briefed by the respective estate management prior to going out on 'the hill'.  Stalking can be arranged for groups of 2-4 people and often includes long walks on strenuous but beautiful terrain.

We can also arrange sporting breaks of several days duration, with return boat trips to and from an estate for instance, together with dinner and accommodation in The Pierhouse Hotel.  For a deluxe stay, we would strongly recommend guests to stay in one of our two Superior Loch View rooms which ensure a dram of whisky in a hot bath, followed by dinner.

Stalking is charged at varying rates dependent on the estate, although as a guideline stags are usually between £250-£400 each, whilst hinds can be as little as £100 per day irrespective of the numbers shot.  Packed lunches can also be arranged through the hotel.

We offer a range of fantastic walks in the immediate area with stunning historic sites such as Castle Stalker, making us a much loved escape for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, artists and novelists, or for those simply wanting to relax in one of Scotland's most beautiful locations.  We also offer a full range of hotel facilities including a Finnish sauna.   Why not also enjoy our excellent range of relaxation, therapeutic, aromatherapy or sports massage treatments which may be booked through our Reservations team.
