How to get here.

By Road

Approximately 20 miles north of Oban (allow 30 mins journey time) and 27 miles south of Fort William (allow 45 minutes journey time).

From Glasgow - take the M8 west across the Erskine Bridge and turn left onto the A82 to Crianlarich, and continue heading north on the A82 signed Fort William. At Ballachulish, take the A828 to Oban and in Appin, turn right at the "Port Appin / Lismore Ferry" sign (allow 2 hours and 15 minutes journey time). We recommend that you take this 'northern' route via the A82 signed Fort William, rather than the 'southern' route via the A85 signed Oban (via Taynuilt and Connel Bridge).

From Edinburgh - take the M9 towards Stirling. Follow the A84 and head towards Crianlarich (A82), carry on to Ballachulish. Take the A828 to Oban and in Appin turn right at the "Port Appin"/Lismore Ferry" sign (allow 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours).

By Air

The nearest airports are Glasgow International which is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes by road, and Edinburgh Airport which is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes by road.
Additionally, private planes can land at Connel Airfield, just 20 minutes drive south from the hotel. Taxis and car hire are easily arranged and will meet you at the airfield if required.

By Boat

We are ideally placed on Loch Linnhe for visitors arriving by sea and hold 10 private moorings for the use of our guests which are free if you dine in our restaurant. Our moorings are situated at the south of the pier (available April to October). Sauna, shower, clothes washing and drying facilities are also available for sailors at a small charge. Please check availability of moorings on +44 (0) 1631 730302 before your arrival. The Pierhouse Hotel is located at the head of the Port Appin pier.

Onward Journeys

For onward journey by Caledonian MacBrayne (Calmac) ferry to the Isles or on Hebridean Island Cruises on the Hebridean Princess cruise ship, rather than staying in Oban it is perfectly feasible to stay at The Pierhouse which is very conveniently located within easy reach of the ferry port to enable guests to be able to catch early morning Calmac ferries to the Isles. Alternatively we can offer Hebridean Island Cruise passengers extremely comfortable accommodation either before or after your cruise on The Hebridean Princess cruise ship.
